Whole Wheat Bread

Actually, this is 100% freakishly good whole wheat bread.  Made with my bread maker.

Whole Wheat Bread

Buying bread is expensive these days.  I found a whole wheat bread recipe, but it wasn't as healthy and good as I wanted it to be, so I tweaked it and came up with this:

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

1-1/2 cups warm/hot tap water

4 cups whole wheat flour (not whole wheat bread flour, regular whole wheat flour).

2 tsp. salt

1/3 cup honey

1 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. dry milk powder

2 Tbsp. canola

2 tsp. active dry yeast (for the bread maker)

Use the Basic Bread Setting (not the whole wheat setting) and choose Light Crust.

I've had 3 pieces, plain, no margarine/jam/honey nothin.  It is fabulous!

What I'm working on

I'm doing some handkerchief corners blocks right now.  All in blues.  They will be 9" finished.  It will either be a quilt, or a shower curtain for my funky bathroom downstairs.  For the downstairs bathtub we are using a sheet water trough - galvanized, with the old fashioned hanging oval shower rod.  Here are the blocks I've done so far.

Where does the time go?

Another update.  Let's see what pics I have:

Wallet closed for Maddie

Wallet for Maddie

This is a wallet I made for my niece Madisyn.  Gave up on fake names. Can't seem to remember what I call everyone.  Anyways, it is a pattern from Lazy Girl Designs and it is called the Wonder Wallet.  I made myself the same one.  I love it.  It holds way more than you would think it does and it takes almost next to no fabric to do.   She's got lots of excellent, easy patterns on her site.

Pants for Maddy

I also made her a pair of Amy Butler pants out of some funky lime/yellow materials.  Hope she likes them.  Did I mention how much I love these pants!

More later.

PS - I told my friend Feather that I was doing a blog.  Wouldn't tell her where it was or what it was about.  Told her I was talking about her so ..... Feather Feather Feather Feather ......

It's about time I post!

OK, so it's been a while.  Let's update you!

Let's see ... oh!  Christmas with my side of the family.  The gift exchange of give what you made or what you have!  It worked out waaaaayyyy better than any of us could have anticipated.  We are definitely going to do it again next year.

My brother got laid off work so we really weren't expecting much from him, but this is what he built us:

Shelf from Tyler

Beautiful boat shelving unit.  Really, really nice.  I have it in my bathroom on the toilet tank for shelving.  Did I mention how much I love it?!?!?!?!?!

He told us that he had a heck of a time building it because his compressor is so old that it only let him nail 3 or 4 nails before it had to take a break.  So when we gave him our gift of one of Randy's old compressors (much better than the one he had) he was shocked.  It was the perfect gift for him.  Couldn't have planned it better.

My sister, the knitter, made me a fantastic scarf.  I can't find the pic of it, so I'll post it later.  She also gave me a hilarious chicken calendar.

So she comes in and gets out her knitting.

Dad and Cindy

Here she is lounging with Dad.  Quite the coincidence that she brought her knitting and I made her the fabric buckets to put her wool in!  She also wore her lounge pants over her jeans the rest of the evening.  Cannot BELIEVE I didn't get a picture of THAT!

Mom & Dad gave us a miniature cast iron stove that belonged to Dad's Mom.  She passed away in '74 and it was old then.

Miniature stove from Dad It is so dang cute!  Perfect for our farmhouse decor. Mom was excited about her quilt kit and Dad was asking how we knew he needed another folding saw horse and tool bag.  Perfect fit again.

Zack and Tyler

Here are Tyler and Zack lounging after supper.  Randy gave Zack one of his pellet gun rifle thingies so the boys were all outside shooting at stuff.  Apparently that is kool for guys.  At least Zack was happy.

Codie brought her boyfriend but they didn't stay long.  In fact, I'm not even sure they knew we were there.  Didn't get any good pics.

Here is Mom.

Mom

OK, that sums up Christmas I think.  More updates later.  I've got lots of pics.
